SQUARES

OVERVIEW

SQUARES is the classic 10×10 football squares pool, fully DIY. Anyone can create a pool, share a link, and let friends claim squares without logging in. The creator approves requests, the system locks the board and assigns random 0–9 digits to rows and columns once all 100 squares are sold (or whenever the creator chooses), and winners are paid out across four drawings (typically end of each quarter).

HOW TO PLAY

1. 1CREATE A POOL — From the SQUARES home page tap CREATE A POOL. Set a contest name, optional home/away team labels, the price per square, and four payout percentages (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4) that must total 100%. You get a 6-character code and a shareable link.
2. 2SHARE THE LINK — Send the pool link or code to your group. Anyone with the link can view the board and request squares — no account needed.
3. 3REQUEST SQUARES — Participants tap empty squares on the grid to add them to their cart, type their name in the bottom bar, and tap REQUEST SQUARES. Their requests show up as PENDING (yellow) and an email is sent to the pool creator.
4. 4APPROVE REQUESTS — The pool creator (and only the creator) sees a PENDING REQUESTS panel on the contest page. Tap APPROVE to confirm a request — the square turns green, the pot grows, and the squares_sold count goes up. Tap REJECT to remove it.
5. 5LOCK THE GRID — When all 100 squares are approved, the board automatically locks and the system assigns random digits 0–9 to the rows (home team) and columns (away team). You can also tap LOCK GRID & ASSIGN NUMBERS earlier if you want to close the pool with fewer than 100 squares sold.
6. 6DRAW WINNERS — After each quarter ends, the creator enters the home team's ones-digit and away team's ones-digit in the DRAW box. The system finds the approved square at that intersection, records the winner, and calculates their payout based on the Q1/Q2/Q3/Q4 percentage and total pot.
7. 7PAYOUTS — Payouts are shown live above the draw box. The creator can edit the payout percentages anytime before all 4 drawings are complete (they must always total 100%).
8. 8COMPLETION — After the 4th drawing the pool status flips to COMPLETED. All winners stay visible in the WINNERS list at the bottom of the contest page.
